Sometimes inspiration comes from what is new to the eye and sometimes we find it exists in our own backyards. Brazilian furniture design has always spoken a language that feels very separate from footwear. One lives in our most personal space, the other takes us out into the world. And at the same time like they are interlocking art forms; where practicality is just as important as aesthetics. Our shoes carry the weight of our body, of our days. And so does the furniture we choose to live with us.
Brazilian design has long explored juxtaposition. So much of what is created studies two sides of the same coin: spaces that merge the outdoors with the indoors, lights and shadows, the ornate with the minimalist. Our collection of shoes made with natural materials hopes to study those same themes. Our straw Palhoca is handwoven for a complex, geometric visual that sits next to smooth leather. The Carnauba straw is braided to become a soft, flat laying detail that lives next to the sturdiness of a wooden heel. Seemingly opposite but belonging to the same being.
